Sorting Out Subject-Verb Agreement in a Snap!

Subject-verb agreement is a difficult concept for many students to grasp. They struggle to make their subjects and verbs agree, especially when using singular and plural subjects in their sentences. This Subject-verb agreement sorting activity includes instructions, 24 cards, and two category headings.

This sort focuses on determining whether or not a sentence contains correct subject-verb agreement. Students are directed to sort the sentence cards into correct and incorrect categories.

An answer key is included with your download to make grading fast and easy!

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

In addition to independent student work time, use this worksheet as an activity for:

For struggling readers and writers, try the following differentiation ideas:

  • Provide a subject-verb agreement anchor chart or other reference materials for students to refer to during independent practice.
  • Complete the activity in a 1:1 setting, or provide small-group instruction.
  • Partner struggling readers with other students to assist in the reading component of the activity.
